Immediate Release
New Deputy Director for CPRW
The Campaign for the Protection of Rural Wales is pleased to announce the appointment of Sioned Humphreys as their new Deputy Director.
CPRW Chairman Morlais Owens said:
"Sioned will bring a new and exciting dimension to our campaigning work and build on the track record we have established over the last 75 years of our work in protecting and enhancing our most valuable of assets the environment of rural Wales"
Sioned Humphreys has been working as a producer for the BBC for seven years but during this last year changed direction and completed a Masters in Countryside Management at the University of Wales Bangor. Her passion for rural Wales stems from her upbringing firstly in Llanfyllin, Maldwyn then on the family farm near Cardigan in Ceredigion. Sioned, a fluent Welsh speaker, studied Geography at Bristol University before joining BBC Wales in Cardiff as a journalist; working for a wide variety of programmes including politics and current affairs. During her time there she got to report from a number of exciting locations worldwide.
"I care passionately for rural Wales and hope that this exciting role will enable me help make a difference – to campaign to get fair play for the rural environment of Wales whilst at the same time protecting our unique and special landscape for future generations."
CPRW’s Director Peter Ogden said:
"Having Sioned as a part of the CPRW team will help us make a much wider audience aware of the threats and opportunities facing our countryside. We look forward to her joining us on our collective mission to make Wales a better place in which to live and enjoy for everyone."
Sioned will start work on the 1st of September 2004.
