"Slatescape–landscape near Llanberis"
 gan/by David Humphreys

David Humphreys was born in London and brought up there and in n North Wales. He studied Fine Art at Durham University from 1958-62 and was awarded a scholarship by the University. After graduating he taught in schools  for physically handicapped children in Inner London for two years and then at several art schools before devoting himself totally to painting in 1970; since then he has travelled and exhibited widely.

He has explored much of Patagonia ( partly in search of descendants of relatives who left Wales in the nineteenth century to settle in South America) and  from thence overland to the Equator through the Andes of Peru and Ecuador. These travels as well as journeys in the Hebrides and West Wales, which he regards as home , form the inspiration for much of his work.
